PERFORMER DETAILS

Zuma Puma
Psychedelic Clowning Workshop
6pm Friday on the lawn (you will be lead to indoor venue if bad weather). Sign-up at main desk in Telesterion to guarantee a place or just turn up. Join Zuma Puma in this workshop that connects the art of Clowning with the world of Psychedelics. Explore how clown opens, plays, brings light to dark places, connects us and expands our perceptions. Not only is clowning a positive tool for working with psychedelics in how it opens us to new layers of possibilities, laughter and connection, it also puts the player in similar states of expansion to Psychedelics, working with energetic fields and raising self awareness. The clown's work is similar to that of a shamanic practice, willing to work with the energies that are present, creating release where necessary. This workshop is open to everyone and anyone curious about the psychedelic transformative work of Clown.

Zuma Puma aka. Nelly Scott is a Canadian/British Clown, Comedian and Neuro Linguistic Programming Master Practitioner. Zuma founded Clownlife in early 2016 a program designed to encourage a happy life full of connection, laughter, self research/development through the vehicles of Clown, Improv, NLP life coaching and ritual. Besides her work in transformational facilitation Zuma is an award winning actress (The Bernard Shaw Award and The Christopher Newton Awards). In 2012 Zuma founded the International Lost Cabaret-London's most alternative comedy night; which has since grown to a collective and now appears regularly in; London UK, Paris France and Melbourne Australia. She is the visionary, creator of the YouTube comedy series 'Grumpy Lettuce' as well as a solo clown performer currently touring her latest One Woman Show- Don't Do it, Don't Do it, DO IT- Internationally and is with us fresh from the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

David Bramwell
David Bramwell
After inheriting a 100-year old moustache, David Bramwell embarks on a ten-year odyssey to discover all he can about its former owner, a Victorian freakshow host called Ambrose Oddfellow. His quest draws him into the underbelly of Brighton - its séances, spiritual churches and a seedy basement club - where he unwittingly becomes the host of a modern-day freakshow. Coming to believe that his ‘hairloom' is possessed, Bramwell joins a cult, dabbles with Amazonian psychedelics and comes close to losing the plot entirely. Can he solve the mystery before his sanity gives in?
Luke Brown
Luke Brown
Luke Brown a.k.a. SpectralEyes was born with a paintbrush in one hand and a portal to the parallel in the other. Born in Ontario Canada, he began his journey surrounded by a supportive, creative, musical community. His mother is an award winning photographer, and his father a well known musician. Luke received a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from Ontario College of Art and Design.

Luke paints in oils and acrylics as well as utilising digital mediums in his explorations of the infinite inner expanse. He is best known for his obsessive attention to detail, using the smallest brushes available. He is also passionate about creating multi media sculptural works.

For the past 17 years, he has exhibited worldwide and alongside Alex Grey, HR Giger, Ernst Fuchs and Robert Venosa. He has taught at the Visionary Art Academy in Vienna, sharing his knowledge and skills with the next generation of visionary artists. If you have been to psychedelic culture gatherings around the world, you probably came across him live painting and displaying his artworks.

His creative expression taps into something bigger than ourselves, activating the mind and stimulating the creative spirit within us. The embodiment of mystical experience by means of the colourful symmetries in his work are timeless and magical. Luke intends to take the viewer through an alternative dimension; a transpersonal domain beyond time and space, contributing to the expansion of collective consciousness.
Divine Ridiculous
Divine Ridiculous
Divine Ridiculous invites you. We have three days to birth a tarot deck for the Breaking Convention Conference.

The tarot is an ancient tool of self-exploration, cosmic discovery and communication; a compendium of archetypes and numerology, Rorschach tests and poetry which radiates rambunctiously when created in community...

Find us, play our game, pick a card and enter a ridiculous machine, activating hearts, artistic imaginations and mediumistic tendencies and out-putting divine art. The aesthetic is art-brut - powerful, pleasing and primitive.

By creating a card you become part of an original and historic tarot deck.

Eryri Omphalos: The Fort of Fiery Higher Powers

Dinas Emrys (‘Eternal Citadel’) is a hollow, cauldron-like hill in the heart of the mountains of Eryri (Snowdonia). Known far and wide in antiquity it was a gathering place and ceremonial centre for fifteen hundred years, from about 300 BC to 1200 AD. Near the foot of the sacred mountain of Yr Wyddfa, Snowdon, it can be considered a Delphi-like world navel or Omphalos. Perhaps the oldest name for the place was ‘The City of the Dragons of Beli’. It was where, according to legend, these dragons were released by the young Merlin, a ‘child of destiny’, who then uttered an immortal prophecy. It was also reputedly home to the Pheryllt, alchemists to whom Ceridwen came for the inspiration recipe, which ultimately led to the birth of the primary chief bard, Taliesin. Perhaps that’s why its other early name was Dinas Affaraon Dandde, the Fort of Fiery Higher Powers. In this piece he tells the stories of Modron, Mabon, Math, Merlin, Ceridwen and Taliesin and invokes their ‘fiery higher powers’ to heal, transform and see.

Australian born Eric spent ten years travelling round the world on quest for origins, identity and god, absorbing influences from California, the Mayans, Polynesia and Indigenous Australia. He now lives in Snowdonia where he has co-created Cae Mabon, an eco-retreat centre described as a ‘Welsh Shanghai-La’ and ‘the most Druid-like place in the world’. Eric is a writer, singer, storyteller and ‘mythic maintenance man’. This latter role involves keeping the old stories alive but also caring for ancient sacred sites, including the Eryri Omphalos, the subject of his offering at this Breaking Convention.
Bethan Lloyd
Bethan Lloyd

From Theology and Religious Studies at Cambridge to living with the Pataxo indigenous tribe in Brazil, Bethan has been exploring the channeling of voice on and off stage since her childhood in Wales. Her exploration has included training as a classical singer and learning with both shamans, masters, and the ancient teachings of the natural world. Bethan teaches vocal exploration with her current project 'Wild Voice' and is currently studying at the Celtic Mystery School, 'Dadeni' in Cae Mabon, Snowdonia.

John Constable
Goose and Crow: Urban Magic
On 23rd November 1996, the writer John Constable had an acid-fuelled vision of The Goose, the spirit of a medieval sex worker, licensed by the church yet buried in the unconsecrated Crossbones Graveyard. Working with John's shamanic 'Crow' persona, she revealed her secret history in a form of automatic writing, an apocalyptic poem which grew into 'The Southwark Mysteries'. In the 23 years since that night, John Crow has worked with The Goose on a unique act of Urban Magic. During this time, Crossbones has been transformed from a derelict industrial site to a world-famous shrine and memorial garden.

At Breaking Convention 2015, a packed room was held spellbound by John's first telling of the tale: 'Acid Mediumship: Goose and Crow'. This year he looks at how that single LSD trip revealed the spiritual forms that have shaped the physical manifestation of the Crossbones shrine and garden of remembrance. He charts the Halloween rituals, the Vigils for the Outcast, the Invisible Garden and how the Goose and Crow magic uses a kind of repatterning to alter the fabric of reality.

The talk is illustrated by a slideshow depicting the transformation of Crossbones. It climaxes with a live performance of 'The Book of the Goose', the first of the visionary 'books' of 'The Southwark Mysteries', as revealed by The Goose to John Crow.

John Constable (aka John Crow) is a playwright, poet and performer, also known as John Crow the urban shaman of Crossbones. His plays include 'Tulip Futures', the stage adaptation of 'Gormenghast', and his solo shows 'I Was An Alien Sex God' and 'Spare' (inspired by the life and work of Austin Osman Spare). His best-known work, 'The Southwark Mysteries', was performed in Shakespeare's Globe and Southwark Cathedral. In his John Crow persona he conducts 'The Halloween of Crossbones' and the vigils held on the 23rd of every month at south London's Crossbones Graveyard. John has performed his poetry in theatres, clubs and festivals world-wide (‘Like Shakespeare on acid!’ - Time Out) - and is a regular house-act in the Underground Piano Bar at the Glastonbury Festival. His 'Sha-Manic Plays', 'The Southwark Mysteries', and 'Gormenghast' are published by Oberon Books, and 'Spark In The Dark', a selection of his poetry, by Thin Man Press. His work also features in the 'Urban Shamanism' anthology published by Outsider Poets. His songs appear on several 'Hawklords' albums.
